    When traveling in Iceland, you don’t necessarily need to move around in a 4-wheel drive car. Plenty of great places that are located off Highway 1 are also accessible by normal cars.

    That’s why it’s sometimes worth taking a bit of a detour from the main route to reach such points of interest as the impressive Hafrahvammagljúfur and Asbyrgi canyons, the beautiful Surtshellir cave, or the many attractions of Snaefellsnes and the West Fjords.

    What’s more, such places are often overlooked by many people in favor of the other attractions, simply because they lie far from Road 1 – the main loop around the island. Some of them, although beautiful and unique are overlooked anyway, even though getting to them really isn’t a problem.
