How do you get to Oxararfoss?

Oxararfoss lies in Thingvellir National Park, about 50 km (30 miles) east of Reykjavik, on the Golden Circle route. Take road 36 and leave the car at the P2 Efri-Vellir parking lot; the walk to the waterfall takes about 10 minutes. From the main lot by the visitor center, P1 Hakið, it is about 30 minutes.

Do you have to pay to see Oxararfoss?

The waterfall itself is free to visit, but parking in Thingvellir is paid: a passenger car costs 1,000 ISK (about $8) for the whole day, and the ticket is valid in all three paid lots - P1 Hakið, P2 Efri-Vellir and P5 Valhöll (prices September 2026).
