    Northern Iceland, in its central part, does not abound with too many attractions. Of course, Iceland can impress with natural beauty at almost any point, but the north is unlikely to stand out above the rest of the island in this regard.

    The attractions for which the area is worth visiting are gathered near the town of Varmahlid. These are primarily the monuments of wooden architecture in Glaumbauer and Vidimiri.

    Slightly farther west you will find other points of interest – most notably the spectacular Hvitserkur rock. Being in transit in the area, it is worth taking a look at the Koli canyon and the Borgarvirki rocks. If you have enough time, it may also be interesting to visit the Kattarauga pond, whose surface holds two natural floating islands. Huge attractions also await when you drive south on the F35 road.
