  • Road F35

The F35 is the second longest and most important mountain road that crosses Iceland from south to north.

Its route runs through the interior between the two glaciers Langjökull and Hofsjökull and offers incredible views along the way. In the south, the road begins near the Gullfoss waterfall at the famous Golden Circle, and in the north near the town of Varmahlid.

Although it is an off-road road, it is much less demanding than its eastern sister, the F26 road. De facto, according to the official Icelandic classification, Road 35 is no longer a mountain road and should not be called F35, but simply Road 35. However, it is a gravel road, and although a 4×4 vehicle is not necessary on it, an off-road trip is certainly more comfortable.

The main attractions of this route are the phenomenal colorful Kerlingarfjoll mountains covered with clouds of steam and the unique Hveravellir geothermal area.
