    Iceland, like most islands, is surrounded by a variety of beaches. However, the Icelandic ones are completely unique and attract the attention of visitors for good reason.

    Unlike most beaches in the world, the Icelandic ones are made of volcanic gravel. Their sand therefore takes on a dark, graphite hue that shines wonderfully in the sun. The glistening black sand often creates views not of this world. Especially when, in addition, a plane or ship wreck lies on it, or the glittering remains of icebergs….

    Against this backdrop, it’s the golden beach of Raudisandur or the golden-black beach in Skardsvik that look strange, although in fact they are much more like what we know from other parts of the world.
