uch hip and sophisticated places are far from cheap in Iceland – both in admission, restaurant or additional services. It is still far less expensive than the Sky Lagoon or Blue Lagoon.
Krauma is a natural geothermal spa that opened in late 2017. It is among the newest and most sophisticated SPA facilities in Iceland.
Krauma is situated in the vicinity of Europe’s most powerful hot spring – Deildartunguhver – and takes its hot water from it. When mixed with cold glacial water it creates perfect temperature for soaking.
In Krauma Baths & Spa you will find 5 geothermal pools of varied shapes. Two of them are rather large, two other pools – quite small and cochlear shaped, while the fifth one looks like… a large plate. It is a shallow wading pool where guests can relax in the water and catch some sun at the same time (provided it’s sunny outside…).
The facility also has one tub with cold water (from 5 oC to 8 oC), which is great to stimulate circulation, a lounge with a fireplace and soothing music, as well as two steam saunas. The steam used in these comes from the-hot spring water being sprayed from beneath the wooden benches. Such a steam bath is 100% natural.
Krauma’s restaurant offers Icelandic dishes made with super fresh local ingredients from nearby farms.
Mind you, this is Iceland and Krauma is a ‘premium’ facility. So it is not surprising that while the restaurant serves exquisite food, it is not particularly affordable. The menu includes:
The bar serves a wide range of snacks and drinks.
Both restaurant and bar are open all year round and can sit 70 guests indoors and 60 guests on the outdoor patio (if są otwarte przez cały rok i mogą pomieścić 70 osób wewnątrz i 60 na zewnętrznym tarasie (obviously, weather permitting).
The SPA is open daily, from 11:00 till 21:00.
